Caring for Teens: Meet Dr. Charisse Graham, Pediatrician and TFHC’s Adolescent Physician
Navigating the teenage years can be challenging for both youth and their families. At Tampa Family Health Centers (TFHC), we recognize that in addition to routine check-ups, adolescents need a little more. They need a trusted space where they can feel heard, supported and cared for through every milestone, obstacle and question that comes with growing up.
That’s why we’re proud to introduce Dr. Charisse Graham, a board-certified pediatrician with additional training in adolescent medicine, who leads our adolescent program with compassion and purpose.
Dr. Graham brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and empathy to our team. A graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana with a degree in chemistry, she earned her Doctor of Medicine from Morehouse School of Medicine.
She completed her residency in community pediatrics at Morehouse and pursued a fellowship in adolescent medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also earned her Master of Business Administration. Her unique training allows her to care for both the physical and emotional needs of teens with a thoughtful, comprehensive approach.
She is especially passionate about early intervention and its ability to shape positive outcomes in a young person’s life. Her commitment to adolescent care reflects a broader vision emphasized by TFHC’s Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Dr. Ashley McPhie.
“As a pediatrician, I’ve seen firsthand how critical the teen years are,” Dr. McPhie says. “We wanted a physician who understands the complexities of adolescents’ health and can also take the time to truly listen and guide them. Dr. Graham brings that rare combination of expertise, empathy and dedication – and our patients deserve nothing less.”
While pediatricians care for patients from infancy through teens, adolescent medicine physicians like Dr. Graham receive training focused on the specific physical, emotional and behavioral needs of teenagers and young adults. This life stage is full of rapid change, not just for teens, but for their parents too.
Dr. Graham serves as an ally for both, offering guidance on everything from peer pressure, changes in mood or the body and nutrition. And whether it’s sniffles, sports physicals or something more complex, she’s here for it all. With longer appointment times, she creates space for meaningful conversations, trust-building, and early intervention – making a lasting difference in the lives of young people and the parents who love them.
In addition to clinical care, Dr. Graham is an educator and mentor whose research on teen mental health and eating disorders informs resources that empower both caregivers and adolescents nationwide.
Whether you need help guiding your teen through puberty or managing a chronic condition, Dr. Graham and the TFHC adolescent care team are here for you. Schedule an appointment at 813-397-5300 or TFHC.org and discover the difference that personalized, compassionate care can make.
Our mission is clear: to make healthcare more accessible and effective, especially in the communities we serve. Because at TFHC, we believe in healthcare as it should be – supportive, accessible and made just for you.
