Jane Goodall is Bringing her Roots & Shoots Program to Tampa Bay This Weekend
Environmental activist, Dr. Jane Goodall, is coming to Tampa Bay! Dr. Goodall’s Institute’s Roots & Shoots program is working in alliance with several Tampa-based environmental organizations for Hope in Action, a weekend of high-energy events that will help teach kids about conservation and protecting our environment from September 14 to 15.
The event will start with a Youth Environment Summit and followed by a Day of Action around Tampa Bay. Keep reading to find out how you can participate and learn how to make a difference!

Youth Environment Summit
The Youth Environment Summit will take place on Saturday, September 14 at Tropicana Field. Aspiring conservationists from 4th grade through college are invited to the symposium, which will include guest speakers, workshops tailored by age group, and a convention floor with booths from local environmental organizations. Talks and activities will be organized into three categories: our water, our shorelines, and our cities. A fill schedule of panels and activities can be found here.
Participants will be able to spend the whole day hearing from peers who are already doing amazing things! Learn how you can make a difference, then stay and seize the rare opportunity to hear from Dr. Jane Goodall live and in person.
An Evening with Dr. Jane Goodall
Dr. Goodall will speak at Tropicana Field the evening of September 14 at 7 pm. An Evening with Dr. Jane Goodall is open to the public. Goodall is the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace. She’s a world-renowned ethologist and activist who inspires greater understanding and action on behalf of the natural world. As part of her 90th birthday tour, Dr. Goodall will share her message of hope live, in a unique talk tailored for the Youth Environment Summit.
Advance registration for the summit is available through Eventbrite and includes a ticket to An Evening with Dr. Jane Goodall. Registration for the Youth Environment Summit will NOT be available at the door. Space is limited so register now!
For those not attending the Summit, separate tickets to An Evening with Dr. Jane Goodall are available from $10-$20.
Day of Action around Tampa Bay
On Sunday, September 15, there will be a Day of Action around Tampa Bay. Local environmental organizations who are part of the Roots & Shoots Alliance are inviting students, families, and members of the community to sign up for one of numerous service projects they will be hosting around the Bay area. Participants will volunteer in projects designed to protect and improve our natural environment.
Bring your family, your friends, or your co-workers and show your love for Tampa Bay by volunteering for a service project! You can sign up for a Day of Action through Eventbrite.
