New Test Track at EPCOT with a Futuristic Makeover: What Parents Should Know

One of the fastest rides at Walt Disney World is racing back with a brand-new look. After months of anticipation, Test Track, presented by General Motors, reopens at EPCOT on July 22, and it now features a sleek new design, updated storyline, and cutting-edge technology that blends nostalgia with innovation. Here's what parents should know before heading to EPCOT to enjoy this new ride at Walt Disney World.

From the moment you enter the new queue, you'll notice the difference. The reimagined space replaces the “design your own car” activity with futuristic automotive displays, layered lighting, and concept vehicles that pay tribute to past and future transportation dreams.

Throughout the experience, nods to EPCOT’s original World of Motion attraction create moments of nostalgia for longtime Disney fans. At the same time, the ride itself introduces new effects, enhanced sound, and scent elements that make the entire journey more immersive.

Once onboard, riders still enjoy the thrill of sharp turns, acceleration tests, and that famous outdoor loop that clocks in at 65 mph, making this the fastest attraction at Walt Disney World Resort, still.

What Parents Should Know

  • Height Requirement: Riders must be at least 40 inches tall, so this one’s best suited for school-age kids, tweens, and teens.

  • Single Rider Line: For families with older kids or teens who don’t mind splitting up, the single rider line is a great way to save time.

  • Sensory Elements: The ride now includes new light and scent effects, as well as fast speeds, darkness, and loud sounds—something to keep in mind if your child is sensitive to sensory input.

  • No More Custom Car Design: The build-your-own car stations are gone, so families can now enjoy a smoother and shorter wait through the enhanced queue experience.

  • Lightning Lane Access: Test Track is part of EPCOT’s Lightning Lane Multi-Pass group, so if you’re using Genie+, you’ll want to plan accordingly.

And if members of your family need something to do while they wait for your thrill-seekers to finish the ride, head to some of the playgrounds at EPCOT.
