New ZooTampa walking trail

ZooTampa debuts NEW Walking Trail with Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH

There’s a new way to get your steps in in Tampa Bay and it’s wild! ZooTampa’s new walking trail is officially ready for you and the kids!

While there isn’t an actual new paved trail, the zoo took existing walkways to create a one-mile loop with trail markers every 1/8 of a mile.

This new trail was created in partnership with the Muma Children’s Hospital at Tampa General Hospital as a way to encourage families to stay active and healthy. And because the trail is paved or has a boardwalk, it’s stroller-friendly and a great way to get in some scenic steps in a safe environment. The bonus…you can stay and play!

You can even plan to start the morning with an experience in the new Stingray Shores In-Water Animal Encounter which debuts on March 8. You will need to book this reservation at least one day in advance, so keep this in mind.

ZooTampa Walking Trail route

The trail starts at the entrance of the Zoo near Manatee Circle and takes you through all of the realms of the park and along the new Florida Wilds boardwalk which we love. It will also loop you through the new Australia area which will open in March with all-new experiences and rides, an upgraded splash pad, and more!

Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH is also the presenting sponsor of the Family Care Center in Australia.

The walking trail is not the first collaboration between Tampa General Hospital and ZooTampa. As the official and exclusive medical partner of the Zoo, the Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH hosted a Kids Fun Run at the Zoo last summer and is the presenting sponsor of the Family Care Center in the new Australia section of the Zoo, which opens in March.
